How to direct a Pantomime Part 5 – Secret Squirrel
Secret squirrel…
There’s top secret stuff going on at rehearsals now, and boy do we have some surprises for you. I have been debating over the last few weeks about what to tell you about in the blog and which photos to print and it is not easy. We need to tempt you all in, but at the same time save some surprises for when you are there. So for that reason I am keeping all our songs a secret.
Clive (MD), Julie and Emma (Chorographers) and I spent a long time this summer debating and selecting the songs to use in the show this year and we are pretty confident now that we have got it right. We have a few modern classics, a contemporary number a bit of light hearted pop and a musical special. From the reaction of other members of the group who have dropped in on rehearsals, we reckon we have got it just about right. Oh – and the choreography is spot on – we have a couple of real treats in there for you.
My other surprise was going to be the geese that we brought down to the Christmas lights fest in November. Much as I really wanted them to be a surprise, the fun we had bringing them out that night to publicise the show was worth it and really got the villagers attention. But believe me – their performance on the night will be worth watching in person.
The joy of Panto is not knowing what is going to come next and we don’t think we will let you down with this show. The cast are really working hard to polish their performances and bring a bit of sunshine to a dreary January.
In the meantime, I have a little surprise of my own for the cast next week with our last rehearsal before Christmas…. I won’t say anything just yet, but needless to say we will be working through all our songs while having some Christmas fun and games. I’ll post some pictures next week!
